Shame on me for neglecting my inbox. In just 7 days I have received 9 emails from the Obama campaign, most directed at fundraising. It’s the usual crap, but I am sharing them anyways.

Starting now, we can expect even more wealthy, right-wing ideologues lining up to support the Romney-Ryan ticket.

The people on the other side who are trying to buy this election are putting nasty, deceptive TV ads on the air right this very minute. They’re not going away. They’re getting worse.

If we don’t do what we can to keep this close, right now at this crucial moment, we risk letting the other side run away with it.

If you’re thinking about making a donation to the campaign, please don’t wait — donate $5 or more today, and let’s win this together.

Every single day from now until Election Day matters. At the end of it, we’ll all ask ourselves if we did everything we could to make sure that we are able to keep fighting for change.

I know how I want to answer that question. I hope you’re with me — because we’re up against the kind of outside spending never seen before in modern politics.

And without people like you, this could get to be a pretty lopsided fight.

November 6th will be here sooner than we think. Donate $5 or more today:

Thanks,

Joe

Here’s a word you’re going to hear a lot between now and November 6th: Canvassing.

Here’s why: It’s a huge part of how we’re going to win. And by the time you’ve read this email, it’ll also be part of your vocabulary.

In case you’re not familiar, canvassing means going door to door in communities like yours, talking to your neighbors about what’s at stake in this election, and getting them ready to support President Obama and other Democrats this fall.

And Tuesday is your chance to get out there and be a part of it. We’ll be knocking on doors and making phone calls across Florida.

Can you join us in __________?

Here are all the details:

What: Day of action in ________

Where: blah blah blah

When: Tuesday, August 14th
Shifts start at 9:00 am

Canvassing is a major focus of our field program because it represents everything this campaign stands for: bringing new people in block by block, through conversations about what this election means to folks like you and me. There’s no better time to get involved than right now, as the other side lines up behind Mitt Romney and his new running mate, Paul Ryan.

It’s also a lot of fun. There’s no better way to meet new people and get re-energized for the fight ahead than by getting out and about in your community and chatting with your neighbors.

And if you’ve never done it before, don’t sweat it. Before we start, we’ll have an in-depth training to show you the ropes and let you get some practice in with experienced volunteers and staff. Plus, if you know how to strike up a conversation, you’re already a pro.

You should really give it a try, so come out on Tuesday to join us in _________:

Have fun out there,

Congressman Paul Ryan is the poster boy for the extreme Republican leadership in a Congress whose overall approval rating is 12 percent. His plan to dismantle Medicare is deeply unpopular with the general public, and especially undecided voters.

You might be wondering why the hell Romney picked this guy. But this is a strategic pick that carries real danger for us.

Here’s the calculation: Mitt Romney doesn’t need or expect Paul Ryan to convince even one undecided voter to cast their ballot for him. That’s not what he’s on the ticket for. He’s there to reassure and inspire ultraconservative ideologues and corporate interests that they will have one of their own a heartbeat from the presidency.

That means tens or even hundreds of millions more dollars for the Romney campaign and the array of outside groups supporting him — and if current trends hold, more than 90 percent of that money will be spent on TV ads — lying, distorting and trashing Barack Obama. Those ads will have more impact on undecided voters than anything Paul Ryan himself does or says.

Mitt Romney is convinced that picking Paul Ryan is a great investment for him. And his campaign is already touting the pledges and donations they’ve received as a result, with fundraising events planned for this week.

We’re already being outraised, and we can’t afford to fall further behind. Our records show that you’re still waiting to make your first online donation — now is the time.

Please donate $5 or more today:

Today, just 72 hours after joining the GOP ticket, Paul Ryan is making a pilgrimage to the Sands’ Venetian casino in Las Vegas to kiss the ring of Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino magnate who’s already donated more than $35 million to Republican groups in this election.

That’s the same Sheldon Adelson who gave $15 million to help Newt Gingrich against Mitt Romney in the primary, and said he may give $100 million — basically, whatever it costs — to defeat Barack Obama.

We’re starting to get a glimpse of how Romney plans to cash in on his vice presidential pick. Before Ryan’s even been fully introduced to the American people, he’s attending a private fundraiser in Vegas with the top super PAC donor.

We’re doing this differently, with ordinary people chipping in whatever they can afford — but it’s going to take a lot more of us to match them. Will you donate $5 or more today?

While his campaign pours tens of millions of dollars into negative TV ads that independent fact-checkers continue to prove false, Mitt Romney’s in Ohio complaining about … negativity!

Last night, he railed against the campaign that you and I have built from the ground up, calling it a “campaign of division and anger and hate.”

I’m working with volunteers and organizers on the ground and on the phone every day in the campaign, and I’m seeing and hearing the opposite.

While Mitt Romney diagnoses the President with everything from anger, to desperation, to being “intellectually exhausted,” we’re building the best damn grassroots program this country has ever seen. And we’re having a great time doing it.

Can you lend a hand? Pitch in $5 or more today to help build our grassroots movement.

It’s not division that brings young high school students together with the 70-year-old grandmothers on their local neighborhood team in Virginia.

It’s not hatred that inspires volunteers to celebrate a field office opening in North Carolina with homemade cookies.

The diverse groups of supporters who come together in neighborhoods across the country are doing it for one reason: Because they believe in working together and leaving our country better than we found it.

I bet you have a reason for getting involved, too. If you can, please pitch in to keep this campaign going in the critical last months:

https://donate.barackobama.com/Our-Campaign

Romney’s ads are 90 percent negative, and many are debunked almost as soon as they’re aired. While we can’t underestimate the effect that tens of millions of dollars pouring into key states can have, the way we win is never going to change: We’re focusing on the grassroots, every day.

Thanks for standing for what’s really important,

Jeremy

Four years ago, Barack stood on a stage at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. He accepted our party’s nomination, and then told our country what he intended to do as President.

Let’s think for a second about what’s happened since then.

Our businesses have added 4.5 million jobs in the last 29 months. The typical middle-class family has saved $3,600 in tax cuts over his first term. We passed historic health care reform. The war in Iraq has ended. It’s now easier for women to fight for equal pay for equal work. And gay and lesbian service members can no longer be denied a place in our nation’s military because of who they are or who they love.

But we’ve got to finish what we started. Soon we’re gathering for our convention in Charlotte — and Barack and I would like to meet a few of you there.

Pitch in $5 or whatever you can to help build this campaign in these last 82 days — and you’ll be automatically entered to be our personal guest in Charlotte.

This is a pretty amazing opportunity. The campaign will fly you and a guest to Charlotte and cover your hotel for the three nights you’re there. And each night, you’ll get some of the best seats in the house to watch the big speeches.

You’ll meet Barack, and during his speech on Thursday night, I’d like you to sit with me.

This is going to be an amazing event for our campaign. There is truly only one like it.

So enter for your chance to join us now — and I hope we’ll see you in Charlotte in a few weeks:

Are you as fired up as I am?

I just got back from Iowa, where we are being outspent 2 to 1 on the air. Voters there mentioned it to me more than once.

We expect Mitt Romney and the Republicans to outspend us.

What I will not abide is getting outspent by a margin that negates all the hard work our volunteers are doing — talking to voters, knocking on doors, making calls.

We are in control of that outcome, but our time to close the gap is dwindling. After three consecutive months of being significantly outraised, it couldn’t be more urgent.

Will you make a donation of $5 or more?

https://donate.barackobama.com/Outspent-in-Iowa

If we win this election, it will be because of what you did.

I don’t get to tell you enough how grateful I am.

Thank you,

Barack

P.S. — In a few weeks, I’ll accept our party’s nomination for president onstage in Charlotte, North Carolina. I wouldn’t be there without you. Any donation you make today automatically enters you and a guest for a chance to join me and Michelle as VIP guests of the convention. Hope to see you there.

Friday morning, I sent a letter to Mitt Romney’s campaign manager, asking that Romney release just five years of tax returns. And I made a commitment that, if he does, this campaign would not demand more.

You should add your name. Here’s why:

Right now, our opponent is proposing a $2,000 tax increase on middle-class families with kids in order to pay for tax breaks for millionaires like him.

He’s asking Americans to put him in charge of their taxes, while refusing to come clean about his own.

This isn’t going away because voters deserve better, and everyone but the Romney campaign seems to recognize that.

Call for Mitt Romney to join President Obama in this basic and traditional act of transparency: Add your name.

Romney’s refusal to release his returns is raising more questions than he’s been willing to answer.

According to the one full year of returns he has released, Romney paid 13.9% in taxes on his income. Thursday, he said he went back and looked, and has never paid less than 13% over the last ten years.

Now we’re asking him to put his money where his mouth is.

It is absolutely relevant for us to ask how much a presidential candidate paid in taxes, if he sheltered his money or tried to get out of paying taxes at all, why he started — and continues to own — a corporation offshore in Bermuda, why he keeps his finances offshore in the Cayman Islands, and why he opened a Swiss bank account.

In refusing to be transparent about it, he’s not only breaking the trust he’s asking voters to place in him, but also three decades of precedent that began with his own father’s presidential campaign in 1968.

This issue isn’t going away, and for good reason. Tell Romney to follow 30 years of precedent and release his tax returns:

This video, right here, explains why I’m working day in and day out to win this election. When the hours are long and the fight is hard, I know that what we’re doing will make a real difference in people’s lives.

You have to watch this video — and then share it with whoever you think needs to see it. It gave me chills:

P.S. — If you think this speech is great, just wait until the convention. You could see the President’s acceptance speech in person, right up front with the First Lady. Pitch in whatever you can, and you’ll be automatically entered to fly with a guest to Charlotte and meet Barack Obama before he goes on stage.
